A Mainz eatery has been recognized as the "Restaurant of the Year"?
In an exciting turn of events, Mainz's Sushi Restaurant Buddhas has made it to the semi-finals of the Uber Eats Awards. The competition, known as the Uber Eats Awards, is a prestigious event aimed at honoring outstanding restaurants on Uber Eats' delivery service system.
Established in 2009, Sushi Restaurant Buddhas has been a staple in Mainz's culinary scene for over a decade. Originally situated on Kleine Langgasse, the restaurant moved to Römerpassage in 2014.
In a recent reader survey by Merkurist, Buddhas came in second place for the best sushi in Mainz, further solidifying its reputation as a top choice for sushi lovers in the city. Now, Buddhas represents Rhineland-Palatinate in the current phase of the Uber Eats Awards, with one representative from each federal state competing.
Four creators are currently testing the semi-finalists and assigning points. The restaurants with the highest point totals will advance to the final round, where they will demonstrate their skills in front of a jury. The Restaurant of the Year will receive a prize of 40,000 euros at the end of the competition.
The Uber Eats Awards' award ceremony is scheduled for September 17th. With Buddhas' strong performance so far, Mainz residents are eagerly awaiting the results to see if their favourite sushi restaurant will take the top spot. In the Uber Eats Awards competition, Buddhas, known for its sushi and other food-and-drink offerings, is now also representing its home-and-garden setting of Rhineland-Palatinate in the semifinals. A recent lifestyle survey by Merkurist ranked Buddhas as the second-best sushi restaurant in Mainz, reflecting the restaurant's established position in the city's food-and-drink scene.
