Aberdeen's £15m Queen Street Park to Revitalise Area and Boost Sustainable Travel
Aberdeen City Council has submitted a £15m planning application for an urban park on Queen Street, aiming to revitalise the area and boost sustainable travel. The park, designed with community consultation, will feature outdoor seating, performance spaces, gardens, and enhanced greenery.
The new urban park is a key part of the council's City Centre and Beach Masterplan. It will prioritise pedestrian and cycle links, encouraging more people to walk or cycle and contributing to Aberdeen's sustainability goals. Each space within the park will serve multiple functions, reflecting themes of urban nature, community, heritage, and arts and culture.
The park's location, across from the former police headquarters building, is expected to stimulate investment from surrounding private buildings and landowners, supporting the area's regeneration. The building's future is still under review by the council.
The £15m urban park on Queen Street, designed through community consultation, will revitalise the area, enhance active travel connectivity, and support Aberdeen's broader sustainability goals. Its anticipated completion will not only transform the public space but also stimulate surrounding investment.
