Alternative Plan Implemented for Redesign of Discussion Platform in Case of Organizational Changes

The city of Ludwigsburg is seeking alternative venues to host cultural events during the renovation of the Forum am Schlosspark, which is scheduled to commence in 2027 and expected to last until 2032. The estimated costs for the renovation are approximately 100 million euros.

The city council is considering several potential venues, including the Friedenskirche, Reithalle in the Karlskaserne arts center, Louis-Buhrer-Saal in the Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, and Scala.

The Louis-Buhrer-Saal and Scala are expected to have higher costs due to rent and external technical service providers. The estimated costs for a general renovation of the Forum are approximately 100 million euros.

To offset these costs, the city plans to hire a full-time position to lead the implementation of the city's ideas, such as developing the concrete program or negotiating costs with event organizers. The city also expects new venues to attract a new audience and decrease costs due to the reduced offering.

The city has proposed ideas for an alternative cultural program for the years 2027 to 2032, which will consist of 22 productions with 28 performances per year. The planned interim program will focus on a variety of events, with the Friedenskirche being used for sacred works, orchestral music, and Ludwigsburg music societies. The Reithalle could be used for dance events, and the Louis-Buhrer-Saal may host classical concerts.

The Scala is an option for events with a club atmosphere. The city is also considering the outdoor area at the Elbe waterfront in Hamburg HafenCity for exclusive evening events, emphasizing sustainable, resource-saving concepts without elaborate booths, allowing for genuine professional exchange and practical knowledge transfer.

The estimated sponsorship income for the interim program is around 40,000 euros. The costs for accommodation and catering have been set at 42,000 euros in the current calculation.

The city's challenge lies in maintaining quality with fewer resources. The productions will be less complex due to the lack of the Forum's stage and technology. Despite the reduced cultural program, it is expected to maintain high quality.

The Ludwigsburg City Council is expected to decide on the Forum's renovation in the spring of next year. Replacing the Forum is not an option, and the city is committed to finding a solution that balances the need for renovation with the continuation of a vibrant cultural program.
