Austria's Wolfgang Nittnaus Sets New European Giant Pumpkin Record

The giant pumpkin championship in Austria concluded with a new record. Wolfgang Nittnaus from Burgenland won with his 990.6 kg pumpkin, surpassing the previous Europa record. Nittnaus will now represent Austria in the European championship.

Each pumpkin at the championship was inspected thoroughly for any flaws. Only the best compete. Nittnaus' winning pumpkin, an 'Atlantic Giant' variety, was flawless and weighed in at a staggering 990.6 kg, heavier than some small cars. The previous Europa record was also set by Nittnaus, solidifying his status as a giant pumpkin growing expert.

Nittnaus' garden hosts more of these giants. His hobby, though rewarding, is both cost- and water-intensive. Nine-year-old Isabella Haindl also impressed, coming in third with her 539.5 kg pumpkin.

Wolfgang Nittnaus' victory at the Austrian giant pumpkin championship sets the stage for his participation in the European championship. His record-breaking pumpkin, grown with dedication and care, is a testament to his skill and passion for the hobby.
