Bergisch Gladbach Launches First Bike Lanes for Modern Mobility
Bergisch Gladbach has taken a significant step towards modern mobility with the opening of its first bike lanes on Hasenweg and Nachtigallenstraße. The city's first deputy mayor, Ragnar Migenda, welcomed the new infrastructure, highlighting its importance in combating climate change.
The bike lanes, part of the F2 route, are designated for bicycle use only, ensuring safe passage for cyclists. Motor vehicles are prohibited from entering or parking on them. All road users have right of way at intersections, and the maximum speed is 30 km/h. Cyclists may ride side by side on these lanes. Parking is no longer allowed, but short stops are permitted if they do not hinder bike traffic. Cycling on the opened stretch is already high and increasing. The city plans to gradually expand its bike network in the coming years to make cycling more attractive, safer, and efficient.
The city asks all road users for mutual consideration and understanding for the new regulations to ensure safe and future-proof streets. It will closely monitor the implementation of the bike lanes and is available for questions and suggestions at [email protected]. Bike lanes are now an important part of modern mobility infrastructure in Bergisch Gladbach.
