Bid Farewell to the Ordinary in Neuwied
Neuwied, Germany - Neuwied City Marketing recently organised two unique events, attracting a high response rate from visitors. The life-sized figures, replicas of residents, were brought to the city and blended seamlessly into daily life.
The life-sized figures, which have garnered a dedicated fan base over the years, were moved from Lechnerhof studio in Witten. They were on display in various locations across the city centre, including Deichuferpromenade, the market square, and the pedestrian zone.
Nathalie Schneider, the deputy head of Neuwied City Marketing, expressed her delight over the response. "We are thrilled with the turnout," she said. "Visitors from cities such as Bonn, Essen, and Hamburg came to see the figures."
Two prize draws were organised as part of the events. In the photo contest, participants were asked to submit the most beautiful and creative photos of the life-sized figures. In the photo rally, participants were challenged to correctly match seven detailed shots of different figures. Among children, the two ponies in the Goethe gardens were particularly popular.
The life-sized figures' stop in Neuwied was made possible through the funding program "Future-proof Cities and Centers" from the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development, and Construction. Special guided tours of the figures were offered by the Neuwied Tourist Information, and the response was high, with the last tour having enough participants to fill two or three groups.
Initially, the evaluation was scheduled to take place by the end of June, but it has been postponed due to preparations for the Deichstadt festival. The evaluation of the prize draw submissions will take place after the festival.
Despite the postponement, the exhibition of life-sized figures in Neuwied had an exceptionally good response. Two "shower" figures will remain permanently in Neuwied and can still be found on the Deichuferpromenade.
While specific data regarding visitor attendance, fan engagement, and tourism effects linked to the life-sized figure exhibition in Neuwied are not yet available, it is clear that the event brought a sense of excitement and joy to the city.
