Sheridan County Library System to Fuel Imagination at CHAPS Tournament of Knights

The Sheridan County Library System is gearing up for a creative and engaging event at the upcoming CHAPS Tournament of Knights. On August 6, from 10 a.m. to noon, children and families are invited to visit the library's booth at the event to design and create their very own coat of arms.

This medieval-themed craft activity allows young attendees to personalize a symbol representing themselves as little knights. Materials and guidance will be provided for designing and decorating a coat of arms, with help from library staff or volunteers.

To participate, simply come to the library booth during the Tournament of Knights, held on July 26th, 2025, at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. The activity is expected to take about ten minutes to complete.

In addition to the coat of arms design, another small craft will be available for families to add to their collection on Aug. 6. These handmade crafts are part of a larger crafting program held throughout Sheridan by the library system.

The Sheridan County Library System is participating in the CHAPS Tournament of Knights to support its programs and to offer a fun and interactive experience for the community. The event benefits CHAPS Equine Assisted Services, and the library seeks helpers to make fun crafts, including flower-themed items, to fundraise during the event.

The coat of arms design activity will take place in the Wyoming Room at the Sheridan County Library System. For more information about the CHAPS Tournament of Knights, including ticket purchases, visit the provided link.

Zola Shockley, the Youth Services Manager at the Sheridan County Library System, and Cassie Stone, the Community Engagement Manager, are excited to offer this hands-on craft experience for children and families. They look forward to seeing the creativity and imagination that will be unleashed at the event.

  1. The Sheridan County Library System's participation in the CHAPS Tournament of Knights extends beyond the medieval-themed coat of arms design, as they also plan to offer home-and-garden themed crafts on August 6, allowing families to augment their collection.
  2. To engage with the public pulse and foster a sense of community, Zola Shockley and Cassie Stone, managers at the Sheridan County Library System, aim to let the public dive into a vibrant lifestyle by creating their unique coat of arms and other crafts at the CHAPS Tournament of Knights.
