Bremen's Winter Cultural Festival under the New Town Lights kicks off on November 27th, 2024

The much-anticipated "Lichter der Neustadt" festival is set to return for its 9th edition, transforming Hallenbad Süd and the Bremer Shakespeare Company into a magical winter landscape from November 27 to December 20. Organised by the collective of Kulturkraken e.V., in collaboration with the crew of PAPP BarCafé, this year's event promises to showcase the creativity of the Bremen cultural scene with a focus on art, culture, and culinary delights.

The festival, a place of encounter and cultural diversity, aims to collect 15,000 euros through a crowdfunding campaign on betterplace.org/de/projects/143322-lichter-der-neustadt-2024. Every donation, no matter how small, helps to preserve the magic of "Lichter der Neustadt" as a unique and vibrant platform for artists and the audience to connect.

The festival kicks off with energetic beats from the Bremen ska-punk band "Mad Monks" on November 27 at 8 pm. As the days progress, music-performance artist "Sibb" will perform on December 14, aiming to inspire listeners with pop, dance, and soul music. On December 11, "Clitpics" takes the stage with hyper-feminine new wave pop and "in-your-face" rap. The festival concludes with a performance by the Leverkusen Schlager cult band "Julio Lovetrain" on December 20.

Street artists and surprise performances will bring the square to life at the festival, including acts like "Matthias Romir" or "This Maag". Almost 70 artists and creative individuals present lovingly crafted products, made with a focus on sustainability and individuality. A cozy yurt with a wood stove offers a retreat for haircuts, t-shirt printing, or warming up with waffles, vegan hot dogs, or Aperol Spritz.

Typically, festivals like "Lichter der Neustadt" feature musical highlights, fringe programs, and extended opening hours. While the specific program details for this year's event are not yet available, we encourage you to check Kulturkraken e.V.'s official website or Bremen's cultural event portals for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

The festival operates from Monday to Friday from 4 pm to 10 pm, Saturday from 2 pm to 10 pm, and Sunday from 2 pm to 8 pm. This year, the festival faces financial challenges and is relying on donations and a crowdfunding campaign to ensure its success.
