Celebration of Literacy: Baykonyr District's Literature Festival

In Kazakhstan's capital, the inaugural National Book Day was marked by a literary quiz for schoolchildren and youth in the Baykonur district, our reports reveal. The event, held at the alley of writers, drew young literature enthusiasts, aiming to not only broaden their horizons but also kindle a passion for reading and literary heritage.

Gauhar Zhusipova, a teacher at School No. 16 named after T. Abergenov, explained the significance of the day, stating, "This is a day for expanding knowledge, spiritual enrichment, and nurturing a love for literature."

The quiz included questions spanning Kazakh, Russian, and world literature, with students sharing their favorite works. The most active participants received commemorative gifts.

Gulshat Sattybaeva, a children's librarian at the 5th Children's Library in Astana, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, remarking, "It's rewarding to witness such passion and understanding among middle school students."

Initiated by the Baykonur district's akimat, the event underscores Kazakhstan's post-independence focus on revitalizing its literary heritage and promoting reading among the younger generation. These efforts aim to reinforce language skills and cultural awareness, ultimately strengthening the nation's cultural identity.

During the literary quiz, questions were poseed not only on Kazakh and Russian literature but also world literature, emphasizing the broadening of knowledge and cultural awareness. The event, held in the alley of writers, not only kindled a passion for reading but also expanded into other areas such as home-and-garden, lifestyle, education-and-self-development, and entertainment, thus fostering a well-rounded learning environment. Gulshat Sattybaeva, inspired by the participants' passion and understanding, added books from these various topics, such as home-and-garden and entertainment, to the library collection, aiming to further nurture the students' interests and learning.
