In the heart of Vienna, Austria, Emma Wenda, a remarkable woman of 110 years, recently celebrated her birthday on July 7, 2025. Born in Biedermannsdorf, NÖ in 1915, Emma has been Vienna's oldest citizen for over a year, outliving her husband, Josef Wenda, by an impressive 56 years.

Emma's life has been marked by resilience and adaptability, particularly during World War II. By 1940, she had made Vienna her home. In a time of hardship, she changed her profession and became a tram conductor for the Vienna Lines, a role she would continue for an impressive 30 years until 1970.

Her tenure as a tram conductor is noteworthy, and she is known for her strong sense of justice. However, it should be noted that there is no significant evidence to confirm that she held the title of the longest-serving female tram conductor.

Emma's journey with the Vienna Lines began at a young age, as she worked in the catering industry at 20. Her dedication to the company was unwavering, and she continued to serve the city of Vienna through her work until her retirement.

The celebration of her 110th birthday was a small, intimate gathering, where Emma was treated to a punch cake. The Vienna Lines also took the opportunity to congratulate their former employee, expressing their gratitude for her years of service.

Mayor Michael Ludwig personally congratulated Emma on her milestone birthday, acknowledging her remarkable life and contributions to the city. Emma's resilience and spirit were evident as she remarked at her 100th birthday party that she hoped the end was near for her.

Throughout her life, Emma has lived in various parts of Vienna. She spent 18 years at "Häuser zum Leben," before moving to the Wienerberg house and later, the Laaerberg house in 2016.

Despite her advanced age, Emma continues to be an inspiration to many in Vienna, embodying the spirit of resilience and adaptability that defines the city. Her story serves as a testament to the enduring power of human spirit and the impact one individual can have on a community.

The home-and-garden magazine might feature an article about Emma Wenda's various residences throughout Vienna, chronicling her life's journey. Emma's lifestyle, filled with resilience and adaptability, mirrors the charm and spirit of the home-and-garden charms that make Vienna so enchanting.
