"Colorful, eclectic design approach with an abundance of carefully selected vintage items"
In the picturesque town of Suffolk, Jenny has transformed a charming Georgian property into a stunning living space that seamlessly combines traditional Georgian architecture with contemporary elements. The result is a warm and elegant home that reflects a transitional Georgian interior design, blending southern charm with modern elegance.
Upon purchasing the property, Jenny found that the kitchen and dining room had already been knocked through, providing a spacious and open layout ideal for modern living. The renovation journey, which involved either a new build or an older structure, was a labour of love for Jenny, who project-managed a team of contractors to bring her vision to life.
The decor in the home features classic Georgian elements such as paneled walls, moulded ceilings, and grand staircases, enhanced with modern accents. Antique-inspired pieces coexist harmoniously with contemporary lighting and textiles, creating inviting and functional spaces. The colour schemes emphasize muted, timeless palettes, with soft neutrals like creamy whites, warm greys, and gentle taupes, complemented by deeper accent colours in furnishings and artwork.
Jenny's bathroom, for example, boasts cool azure shades, featuring turquoise flock wallpaper and metro tiles. The guest bedroom, on the other hand, is painted in bright pink, with a Victorian bow-fronted, flame mahogany chest of drawers and vanity mirror adding a touch of vintage charm.
In the living room, English antiques meet Indian textiles, creating a unique and eclectic atmosphere. The renovation included repairing rotten roof rafters and installing a new hand-built kitchen, which works beautifully alongside an antique sideboard, glazed wall cabinet, and old farmhouse table.
The dining room showcases Edwardian painted dining chairs, an Art Deco frosted glass ceiling light, and a mantelpiece filled with antique finds. The hallway contrasts with black and white chequered flooring, leading to Jenny's main bedroom, which features Tulip & Honeysuckle wallpaper from Morris & Co and Breakfast Room Green woodwork from Farrow & Ball.
Jenny's team of contractors shared similar tastes in tea and music, which Jenny fondly referred to as her 'dream team'. In the sunny courtyard garden, one can find a charming collection of plants and, interestingly, hand-block printed Indian parasols for sale.
In 2022, Jenny returned to the Suffolk coast and moved into another period property requiring renovation. With her unique style and eye for detail, there's no doubt that her next project will be another success story of blending tradition and innovation.
In the sunny courtyard garden of Jenny's home, one can find a charming collection of houseplants, adding a touch of green and contemporary flair to the traditional home-and-garden setting.
Jenny's interior-design approach fuses maximalism with transitional Georgian style, creating a unique lifestyle space that merges antiques and vintage pieces with modern accents, reflecting a harmonious blend of different design elements.
