Commemorative Open Event
On the 14th of September, the historic city of Detmold will come alive as it hosts the Day of Open Heritage. This event, which connects architecture, culture, and living city history, is aimed at all generations, including families, history enthusiasts, and the curious.
The highlight of the day will be the presentation of Detmold Palace's restored Salon organ, a unique self-playing mechanism in Germany. Silent since 1944, this remarkable instrument will once again fill the halls of the palace with its melodious tunes.
Numerous other monuments in Detmold will open their doors, offering insights into their history and unique aspects. Among these is the former Falkenkrug Brewery, now a school, which will provide a tour of its extraordinary underground storage cellars on the 13th of September.
Registration is required for the tours at the former Falkenkrug Brewery and Detmold Palace due to limited participant numbers. However, the events during the Day of Open Heritage itself do not require registration.
The complete program with all dates, locations, and registration contacts can be found online as a PDF brochure, accessible under the "Current" page. The brochure also includes diverse offers such as guided tours and lectures.
In addition, Sinalco AG will host an outdoor tour on the 12th of September, providing information about the almost hundred-year history of the company and the Sinalco musical "Das Glück ist eine Orange".
The theme for this year's event is "Worth-it: Priceless or irreplaceable", promising a journey through time that is both valuable and irreplaceable.
The press release for the Day of Open Heritage comes from the city portal. We invite you to join us in Detmold on the 14th of September to experience a day filled with history, culture, and music.
