Community Hub, Bürgerhalle, Officially Resumes Operations.
In Münster, Germany, Mayor Markus Lewe formally reopened the renovated Citizens' Hall within the Historic Town Hall. The municipality's property management department had completely overhauled the Citizens' Hall for seven weeks in October and November 2024, following designs by DEEN Architects from Münster. The final touches included the installation of new glass wind funnels at the entrance doors onto Prinzipalmarkt, enhancing the facility's overall appearance, decreasing energy consumption, and improving lighting, acoustics, and room temperate.
Explaining the significance of the renovated Citizens' Hall, Lewe stated, "The Citizens' Hall serves as an entrance to the Peace Hall where history comes alive and offers a warm welcome to visitors from our city and beyond. I am delighted that both our guests and the Münster Information team will now benefit from the completed renovation."
Apart from upgraded lighting and optically invisible acoustic plaster on the ceiling, the project included a new barrier-free information desk for Münster Information and strategically designed glass wind funnels at the two entrance doors on Prinzipalmarkt to introduce more daylight while keeping the room from cooling excessively. The estimated cost for the entire renovation project was 550,000 euros.
In addition to visiting the Peace Hall, the Historical Town Hall provides tourist information from Münster Information. The team from Münster Marketing offers details about tourist attractions, current exhibitions, events, and cycling routes.
The Citizens' Hall with Münster Information and the Peace Hall are open from Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
