New Stamp Celebrates the Riga Cathedral Boys' Choir
A new stamp, featuring the Riga Cathedral Boys' Choir, will be available for purchase in Latvia starting August 15, 2025. The stamp, with a face value of €2.55, can be bought at post offices, customer centres in major Latvian cities, and through the Latvian Post's online shop.
The Riga Cathedral Boys' Choir, known for its outstanding quality and professionalism, has earned a reputation that extends beyond Europe, reaching the United States, Canada, and Japan. The choir is a musical calling card for Latvia, promoting the name of the country and its city, Riga.
A total of 15,000 stamps have been printed, and a specially designed envelope with a print run of 500 copies has also been issued. This limited edition envelope is a great collector's item and will likely be available during first-day stamping events.
The first-day stamping event for this issue will take place at the Elizabetes Street Post Office in Riga on July 28, 2025, from 10:00 to 18:00. This event offers collectors the opportunity to obtain the specially designed envelope if they are available.
The Riga Cathedral Boys' Choir's music serves as a means of introducing Latvia's culture to other countries. The choir's significant impact on promoting Latvia's image globally is evident in its numerous performances in various countries.
The new stamp is intended for postage on items weighing up to 100 grams within Latvia. The stamp's design was created by artist Ģirts Grīva.
