Rare Classic Car Collection Amassed Over 30 Years to be Sold
A unique collection of over 50 classic and retro cars, spanning more than three decades, is set to be sold by a Worcestershire specialist. The collection, which has been meticulously amassed over 30 years, features a variety of vehicles mainly focusing on Ford and Opel models that were popular in Southern Ireland during the 1960s to 1980s.
The collection began in 1996 with a MkI Capri 1.3 automatic, the first acquisition in this significant historical grouping. Highlights include a MkI Escort 1300E in Copper Brown, a Mk2 Cortina 1600E, a Fiesta Mk1 1.0L in powder blue, and sportier models such as a Mk2 Escort RS2000 Custom and Fiesta XR2s.
The collection also boasts exceptionally rare Opel models such as Manta B2 GTE Exclusives (one with only 14,278 miles), a Manta B Silver II, Manta As, Kadett Coupes, Monza 3.0 E, and a rare Olympia Coupe.
The owner, who worked at a local garage and was bitten by the car bug at a young age, has curated a collection that reflects the automotive preferences influenced by the period's local dealerships focusing on brands like Ford, Opel, and Toyota. The BMW section of the collection includes a brace of E21 3-Series, both manual, and a now extremely rare E12 5-Series. A low-mileage E93 Convertible and a Z4 Coupe and Roadster are also included. A Manta B2 GTE Exclusive in the collection shows just 14,278 miles and is complete with original wheels and tyres. The collection also features a 2002 Tii with an original, restored fuel injection system.
All cars in the collection have undergone major services, paint correction, and detailing, and are kept in bespoke, temperature-controlled buildings. Each car, except those awaiting restoration/completion, is a turn-key example, ready for immediate use.
