The second edition of Dhai Dubai, the city's much-anticipated light art festival, is set to illuminate Al Wasl Plaza in Expo City Dubai from November 12 to 18, 2025. This event is a joint venture between Expo City Dubai and Dubai Culture, showcasing contemporary light installations that blend tradition with modern creativity.

Amna Abulhoul, co-curator of Dhai Dubai and the executive creative director of entertainment and experiences at Expo City Dubai, describes the festival as "the spirit of Dubai made visible." She adds, "The festival offers a window into the soul of the nation, illuminating Emirati identity."

The festival's theme emphasizes the intertwining of past and future, and the bridging role of art. Abulhoul notes that the event demonstrates how the emirate is a place where past and future intertwine, and art becomes a bridge.

Seven Emirati artists have been commissioned to create new works for the festival. These include Fatma Lootah, Mohammed Kazem, Khalid AlBanna, Alia Bin Omair, AlZaina Lootah, Ahmed Al Areef Al Dhaheri, and Hessa Alghandi.

The festival will also feature artist talks and public dialogues at the newly opened House of Arts, a venue at Expo City Dubai dedicated to cultural expression. Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, chief executive of the arts, design, and literature sector at Dubai Culture, stated that Dhai Dubai reflects the depth of the partnership with Expo City Dubai.

Abulhoul mentions that having the support of Dubai Culture is a privilege and a powerful affirmation of the collective commitment to the creative community. She reinforces the mission to empower artists, preserve stories, and ensure platforms like Dhai Dubai continue to thrive and inspire.

The light art festival, Dhai Dubai, highlights ongoing efforts to boost cultural tourism. With its blend of tradition and modernity, the festival promises to be a captivating event that showcases the best of Emirati heritage and creativity. Visitors can look forward to an immersive experience that celebrates the spirit of Dubai and illuminates its rich cultural tapestry.
