Emotional correspondence to Volkswagen: "Hats wept through their eyes"

Cafe in Wolfsburg Shows Solidarity with Ukraine

The world today is fraught with economic instability, conflicts, and uncertainty, making unity more vital than ever. A small café in Wolfsburg, Olivier Caffè, has stepped up to the plate, demonstrating an admirable act of kindness: they regularly donate coffee, which is then delivered to Ukraine by humanitarian organizations.

After sending numerous shipments, the responses they receive are heartwarming yet bittersweet, as they serve as a powerful reminder of the ongoing hardships. One particular piece of correspondence left the staff tearful and profoundly affected.

Wolfsburg's Olivier Caffè - Humanitarian Crusaders

Since the initiation of the "FCKAfD" campaign in early 2024 (dig deeper here), Olivier Caffè has consistently contributed financially to charitable projects, amounting to around 10,000 euros. In addition, regular coffee deliveries are sent to Ukraine, affectionately labeled as "FCKPTN Coffee." The first shipment was dispatched over a year ago, with around 200 packages following suit, as owner Daniel Olivier explains to News38.

The coffee donations bring a sense of joy to the people in Ukraine, who often respond with photos and testimonials from war-torn areas – people who have received the coffee. This affirmation encourages the team in its efforts. However, a recent piece of mail from Ukrainian helpers has left them shaken.

"A war's harsh reality hits home"

The staff at Olivier Caffè discovers an unexpected keepsake: a small, blue and yellow painted cartridge, meticulously transformed into a keychain. "We were all shocked. It was a very emotional moment," Daniel recalls. "It gives a more personal taste of the gruesome reality of this awful war. The thought of children scouring war-torn cities, painting cartridges, and gifting them to helpers... it's heart-wrenching." He believes firmly: "Children should collect stones, leaves, and snails – not war supplies!"

Additional news:

Affected by the poignant symbolism of the cartridge, Daniel now carries it with him. Aware that the donated coffee cannot bring peace to Ukraine, he still takes comfort knowing that it brings a momentary smile to some of Ukraine's residents.

"I know it won't change the war, but knowing we're putting a smile on some faces is a nice feeling," says Daniel, the resilient Wolfsburger.
