Emphasis on Prevention: Picking Top Natural Products Now Adopts a Preventative Approach

In the heart of Romania, a significant shift in food consumption is underway. Health-conscious consumers are prioritizing natural, organic, and additive-free products, driven by growing awareness about the risks associated with ultra-processed foods and pesticides.

Leading this change is Niavis, a renowned Romanian brand specialising in natural products and superfoods. The brand launched the #CulorileNaturii (Colors of Nature) initiative, aimed at highlighting the importance of conscious nutrition.

The first event in the #CulorileNaturii series brought together nutrition experts, consumers, and content creators for product tastings, practical discussions, and the debunking of common food myths. The event covered topics ranging from the confusion between "natural" and "healthy," the misleading promises of "sugar-free" labels, and the misconception that superfoods can compensate for an unbalanced diet.

Niavis representatives stated that customers are making recurring food choices with prevention in mind, seeking natural, organically certified products with real health benefits. Some of the best-selling products in 2024 at Niavis include Celtic salt, nutritional yeast flakes, cinnamon, matcha, and gluten-free organic oats. Functional spices like ginger and turmeric are also becoming daily staples, appreciated for their benefits to digestion, immunity, and inflammation reduction.

Cristiana Andrei, a nutritionist, emphasized that conscious food choices involve understanding the source, the processing method, portion sizes, and the context in which foods are consumed. She also highlighted the importance of consciously preserving the pleasure of eating to maintain long-term habits that help prevent chronic illness and support a healthy body-mind balance.

Freshness, seasonality, and local products are emphasized by 71% of Romanian consumers, who also show a preference for local products, believing they are healthier. The use of technology, including smart apps, wearables, and AI, supports personalized and healthier food choices, with about 69% of Romans using health-monitoring devices and 40% leveraging AI for meal planning and diet personalization.

Niavis products, all certified organic and sustainably packaged, are available through partner retail networks and on the Niavis online platform niavis.ro. The brand's range is built around the core values of simplicity, quality, and transparency, offering a variety of superfoods and certified organic foods, including powders, seeds, dried fruits, organic teas, spices, fair-trade coconut oil, and cooking products.

With over 60% of Romanian consumers increasingly worried about the risks associated with ultra-processed foods and pesticides, and 41% actively avoiding them, it's clear that the trend towards natural, organic, and additive-free foods is here to stay. This shift in consumer behavior not only reflects a growing concern for health but also a desire for transparency and sustainability in the food industry.
