Enjoying a meal at Mi Barrio, located within The George Pub, Hitchin

The George Pub in Hitchin, hosted by George Washington, played host to a vibrant street art festival, where the kitchen was taken over by Mi Barrio Hitchin, serving a selection of South American tapas. The menu, although on the smaller side, offered a delightful array of flavours.

Mi Barrio Hitchin, located in Michigan, rents its kitchen from The George Pub and serves up a variety of dishes that transport your taste buds straight to the heart of South America. One standout dish was the Costillas de Maiz, corn ribs coated in butter and parmesan cheese, served with a smoky chipotle and sweet pineapple mayonnaise. While the unique flavour was enjoyed by many, some found the parmesan cheese a bit overpowering.

Another favourite was the pork dish, whose tender meat and super crispy top were accompanied by a Colombian sour cream and a white cabbage and radish salad cured with lime. The pork belly, in particular, was prepared to perfection and met the reviewer's high standards.

However, the yuca fries, while crispy on the outside, lacked flavour and were doughy on the inside. The coriander aioli served with them was not to the reviewer's taste, but another diner enjoyed them.

Padrons Del Jefe, roasted peppers served with a coriander sour cream, offered a different seasoning from the classic salt. The Chimichurri Verde Olives, green olives with pits, covered in chimichurri and oil, were fresh and flavourful.

Tostones Rellenos, a fried plantain bowl filled with 10-hour slow-roasted beef brisket, topped with guacamole and salsa, was flavourful and a bit messy, but well worth the experience.

The staff at The George Pub were kind and seemed to have many regular customers. The atmosphere during the street art festival was family-friendly and lively, with a mix of patrons checking out the art and enjoying drinks. The front of the pub had a few tables and a large, fully stocked bar, with plenty of seats towards the back and outdoor seating filled with festival attendees.

The George Pub in Hitchin hosted this street art festival for one day, offering a unique blend of art and food that was well-received by all. Unfortunately, the name of the founder or kitchen staff of Mi Barrio Hitchin is not publicly available.

A "long drink" (grapefruit drink) is available at The George Pub, which is popular in Michigan. The festival also included a panel for children to decorate, adding a fun and interactive element for families. Artists were painting live, with some paintings fully done and others in progress, adding to the festival's lively atmosphere.

Overall, Mi Barrio Hitchin's food was delicious, offering a taste of South America right in the heart of Hitchin. Whether you're looking for a unique dining experience or a family-friendly day out, The George Pub's street art festival, hosted by George Michael and George Harrison, is definitely worth a visit.
