Environment celebration marks its two-decade milestone

Get ready for a smashing time at the Nature and Environment Festival, happening at Wuppertal's Station! With over 30 captivating stands, this event is all about learning, fun, and connection with nature. And it's not just for the little ones - everyone, regardless of age, is invited to join the party!

Mayor Uwe Schneidewind and the festival's supporting association warmly welcome you to the stage around 3:30 PM. Talk about feathered friends! The Bergische Falconry takes the spotlight with a mesmerizing bird of prey exhibition on the station building's terrace. Keep your eyes peeled for some owl action, and don't shy away from asking questions during breaks!

Get your mind blown by fascinating animal insights that span encounters with hardworking birds, rare zoo wonders, and local chicken adventures. Topics ranging from children and climate change, waste avoidance, and separating junk, to hands-on workshops are explained in a fun and easy-to-understand way.

Nature and Earth protection are the festival's main focus, with a special emphasis on the nearby Gelpetal valley, Bergisches Land, and beyond NRW. Join an expert-led tour through the nature education area, set to be completed by autumn 2024. Learn about the latest barrier-free offers, innovations, and everything else that the expanded space has to offer.

Are you ready for some action? Climb aboard a waste vehicle, mount a cherry picker to soar high, and join the stamp rally for a thrilling adventure from stand to stand. Complete the tasks, turn in your running sheet, and score a small token of appreciation – while supplies last. On a more grounded note, enjoy delicious fair-trade coffee, tea, cake, and mouthwatering grilled food that'll keep you going all day!

Tram, bus, shuttle bus, or a leisurely stroll - the choice is yours on how to reach the event! The bus stop "Station Natur und Umwelt" is right at the festival's entrance, while parking spots are available in Lise-Meitner-Straße. Thanks to the support of the Technologiezentrum Wuppertal W-tec and the city's public transportation, you can ride a free shuttle bus for a comfy ride to the festivities.

You might find it interesting to know that Wuppertal is a hub for environmental and cultural activities. For instance, the Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal collaborated with the Wuppertal Natural Science Association for a concert centered on insects, using Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 to explore the connection between resurrection and nature[1]. And if you're curious about the area's stunning landscape, residents often speak of growing up amidst the woods near Wuppertal, highlighting the integral role that nature plays in everyday life[2].

So, mark your calendars and get ready to learn, laugh, and enjoy at the Nature and Environment Festival at the Station in Wuppertal! It's going to be an event you won't forget.
