Environmental seminar taking place in Wojanow
On September 30, 2023, an ecological workshop took place in the picturesque town of Wojanów, organised by our website in collaboration with Młodzi Wiedzą Zone and the European Solidarity Centre (ECS) in Gdańsk. The event aimed to engage young people and the broader community in ecological awareness, practical skills, and fostering a sense of environmental stewardship.
The workshop was structured into five main sections, each focusing on a different aspect of ecology and sustainability.
1. **Introduction to Ecology and Environmental Challenges** - Presentations on current ecological issues on a local and global scale, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainable living practices.
2. **Hands-On Environmental Activities** - Practical exercises such as waste sorting and recycling, aimed at teaching participants about the importance of resource conservation.
3. **Interactive Discussions and Group Work** - Facilitated group discussions about environmental responsibility and community engagement. Workshops on how to apply ecological knowledge in everyday life.
4. **Local Environmental Projects** - Presentation of ongoing ecological initiatives in Wojanów and the surrounding areas, encouraging participants to get involved or start their own projects.
5. **Educational Materials and Resources** - Distribution of guides, flyers, and digital resources to support sustainable practices.
The day commenced with a warm welcome from the organisers, followed by an outline of the day’s agenda and objectives. The morning session was filled with interactive presentations on ecological challenges, while group activities focusing on practical environmental skills took centre stage in the afternoon.
A highlight of the workshop was the ecological quiz, which aimed to spread ecological messages and test the participants’ knowledge gained from the workshops. Young people presented their commitment to environmental protection, showcasing their newfound understanding of the world of trees and sustainable lifestyles.
As the day drew to a close, the organisers reiterated their readiness for further work related to nature and thanked Młodzi Wiedzą Zone and the European Solidarity Centre for their cooperation. The event concluded with a call to bear more fruit in their joint work for nature and encouragement for more ecological challenges to be organised.
The workshop was more than just an educational event; it was a platform for community-building and fostering a sense of environmental stewardship. Participants actively participated in discussions, shared insights, and left with a renewed dedication to living sustainably and promoting ecological awareness in their communities.
In line with the ecological workshop's objectives, the afternoon session featured interactive discussions and group work, focusing on applying ecological knowledge in everyday lifestyles, such as home-and-garden improvements or science-based lifestyle choices. To further their understanding, participants also engaged in a sequence of educational materials and resources distribution, particularly those related to environmental-science and sustainable practices within science and the environment.
