European Commission Introduces New Initiative Favoring Summertime Accessibility for Disabled Individuals

European authorities have introduced a fresh project aimed at boosting summertime enjoyment for individuals with disabilities.

The summer holidays organised by Special Needs Support Dreieich (BHD) have proven to be a successful concept and will continue in the future, bringing joy and new experiences to people with disabilities.

The holidays are supported by five BHD clubs, with each club taking participants to different holiday regions in Germany. This year, the Early Birds, Night Owls Club, Friday Club, and Teen Club went to Büchenbeuren, Altoetting, and Fürth respectively. The Little Rascals, the youngest club of BHD, also participated in the Dreieich summer programs.

The expansion of the inclusive offer for the Little Rascals is a significant step towards inclusion, according to Special Needs Support Dreieich. The Little Rascals participated in programs at the youth center (Juz) and the holiday games in cooperation with the city's children and youth support.

Inclusion is a central goal of the summer holidays, consistently pursued by Special Needs Support Dreieich in cooperation with the city. The holidays provide participants with the opportunity to be part of the community and gain new experiences.

The Förderverein der Sonderbedarfsförderungsdreieich, an organisation that supports the holiday trips of the five clubs of Sonderbedarfsförderungsdreieich and conducts expensive annual fundraising campaigns to extend the trips by one day, plays a vital role in this endeavour.

Looking ahead, all those involved are looking forward to continuing the successful concept and designing further inclusive holidays for the summer of 2025. The holidays of 2025 have already generated anticipation among those involved.
