Every Sunday at 11 am, the 57th Jakobs-Frunnenfest is held in Neuwerk

In the picturesque town of Bettrath, the annual Jakob Brunnenfest took place recently, attracting hundreds of locals and visitors from Neuwerk and beyond. This two-hour event, organised with good cooperation from Bolten CEO Michael Hollmann and Volksbank, was a testament to the remarkable dedication of volunteers and the community's shared spirit.

The event was self-building, as indicated by Bolten CEO Michael Hollmann, with the volunteer fire department and the St. Maria Junggesellen Bruderschaft Neuwerk serving as volunteer "supporting actors" and running the beer stand. The district mayor, Volker Kuppers, was one of the volunteer "main actors", tapping the first keg to officially commence the festivities.

The setup for the event was impressive, with around 800-1000 liters of Bolten Alt, non-alcoholic Bolten Alt, malt beer, water, and approximately 5000 glasses. A commemorative glass was given to each participant as a souvenir, with one side reading "Oldest Fohlenelf in the World" and the other side reading "Oldest Altbier Brewery in the World".

During the event, participants clinked glasses, drank, chatted, joked, and chattered, creating a lively atmosphere. The Jakob Brunnenfest is a celebration that embodies the spirit of community, bringing together people of all ages to enjoy local culture, food, and camaraderie.

This year's event was particularly special as it marked the 125th anniversary of "our Borussia", with the commemorative glass dedicated to this milestone. The proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bettrath Scouts, a group that provides a wide range of activities from daily activities to camping trips, supporting valuable youth work in the community.

The Jakob Brunnenfest, while not widely known outside of Bettrath, is a cherished tradition in the town. While specific details about its origin, traditions, and schedule are not readily available, it is clear that the event is a significant part of Bettrath's cultural heritage. For those interested in learning more about the Jakob Brunnenfest, local event websites, cultural heritage resources, or municipal pages related to the town or region where the festival is held would be a great starting point.

Firefighters, known for their dedication, worked alongside volunteers during the setup and running of the beer stand at the Jakob Brunnenfest in Bettrath, showcasing their commitment to community events. Amid the home-and-garden decorations typical of a traditional German town square, a lively lifestyle was celebrated as participants enjoyed food, camaraderie, and the rich culture the Jakob Brunnenfest embodies, which is an integral part of the town's home-and-garden-inspired heritage.
