Explore the Scandinavian Charm of Höda's Innovative Swedish Farmhouse

In the quaint town of Piteå, Sweden, Jennie-Ann and her partner have breathed new life into an old Swedish farmhouse, transforming it into a charming and inspiring home that showcases the best of DIY creativity, sustainability, and personal touches.

Originally a rundown property, the farmhouse, located on Höda VestregårdHöda's family's farm for seven generations, has been meticulously restored to preserve its original character while embracing natural materials and colours. This renovation project is a testament to the Scandinavian knack for DIY, where skills like woodworking, sewing, and home budgeting are commonly taught and where YouTube serves as a valuable resource for learning new techniques.

The farmhouse, now a blend of old and new Scandinavian design elements, boasts a thatch roof and a country style living, farmhouse, Swedish, and vintage-inspired aesthetic. The extensive DIY work undertaken by Jennie-Ann and her partner is evident throughout, with personalised details and unique vintage finds adding character to every corner of the home.

One of the home's creators, Höda Vestregård, is also an artist, with some of her larger paintings adorning the walls. Her photography, capturing the farmhouse's beauty, is shared with permission and has been featured in publications such as "Inside a Beautiful Light Swedish Villa" and "A Serene Swedish Home Filled with Warm Textures."

Jennie-Ann is also the founder of Lin & Lera, an onsite boutique offering sustainable renovation materials, alongside a salvage yard and workshops that support homeowners in renovating and caring for their homes and gardens. This commitment to sustainability is reflected in the farmhouse's design, with natural materials and vintage finds playing a central role.

The farmhouse's creative spaces are filled with inviting spots for writing, playing music, and collaborating. Last weekend, Höda added paneling to the bedroom and used fabric instead of wallpaper, demonstrating the ongoing DIY efforts that continue to shape the home.

The farmhouse's kitchen, built by Höda and her husband by hand, is another standout feature. The family, which includes Höda's father who helped with the kitchen renovation, purchased the farmhouse from Höda's grandparents. Today, it serves as a beautiful example of creative DIY transformation combined with a respect for vintage charm and personal touches.

The sustainable renovation materials offered at Lin & Lera, founded by Jennie-Ann, played a significant role in preserving the original character of the farmhouse while embracing the natural materials and colours, thereby showcasing the best of DIY creativity.

Jennie-Ann and her partner's extensive DIY work on the farmhouse not only transformed the run-down property but also made it a blend of old and new Scandinavian design elements, reflecting a lifestyle that values sustainability, DIY skills, and personal touches.
