In the picturesque Harz region, a remarkable encounter took place during one of Carsten Kiehne's guided tours. The renowned hiker and storyteller crossed paths with an unexpected visitor—an elderly man named Günther, who was sitting in an electric wheelchair at the clinic entrance.

Despite his mobility challenges, Günther expressed his desire to join Carsten's hiking group, and the group warmly welcomed him. As they embarked on their three-hour hike along the Paracelsus-Harzklinik in Bad Suderode, Carsten and his companions provided support to push Günther's wheelchair up the steep inclines.

Günther's determination was evident as he confidently navigated the challenging terrain, addressing Carsten's concerns about the battery and the steep hill. Although Günther was not very skilled with his wheelchair, often slipping or tilting during the hike, he maintained his composure and continued onward.

Carsten found the hike to be one of the highlights of the last 14 years he has been leading tours in the Harz region. For Günther, the hike was the highlight of his stay at the clinic, providing a much-needed break from his usual routine.

As they reached the end of their journey, Günther expressed joy upon arrival, expressing gratitude to Carsten and his group for their support. After a brief rest, Günther followed Carsten and his group on their return, continuing to soak up the beautiful sights and stories of the Harz region.

Carsten took to Facebook to share his emotional experience, expressing his happiness at having shared incredible moments with Günther. The encounter stands out as a unique and memorable event in Carsten's hiking and storytelling activities, further underscoring his dedication to bringing the region's stories to life for his guests.

In addition to his hiking and storytelling work, Carsten Kiehne and his partner Manuela Petri have published over thirty books together. Their shared passion for the Harz region continues to inspire and captivate readers, making the region's rich history and natural beauty accessible to all.

Despite his limited mobility, Günther's dream was to experience the outdoors and engage in some home-and-garden-inspired living by joining Carsten's hiking group. As they ventured through the scenic landscapes of the Harz region, Günther's zest for an outdoor-lifestyle and the group's camaraderie lit up the natural environment, enriching the lifestyle of a special guest.
