On a sunny day in Düsseldorf, the Flingern Street Festival brought together the community with a mix of entertainment, local culture, and support for social causes. The event, held on May 31, took place on Flingern, Bruch, and Schwelmer streets, featuring two stages, a mini-street food mile, and a flea market with over 200 private vendors.

The main stage, located at the intersection of the three streets, kicked off the festivities around 9 a.m. with acrobatics and hip-hop performances. Düsseldorf's Tanzsport group took centre stage, setting the tone for a day filled with rhythm and movement. The Judo sports school D'dorf demonstrated techniques during the festival, showcasing the diversity of activities available in the area.

Meanwhile, a second stage was located in the roundabout of the Schwelmer street. At noon, "The Earworms", a Düsseldorf jazz combo consisting of 12-year-old musicians who attend the Waldorf school in Gerresheim, captivated the audience. The Tilly wagon from Quarter 8 was present in the roundabout, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The Flingern Street Festival also featured the FlingerPfad, a part of the 30-station industrial path that can be explored on walks. Anne Menges and Kaspar Michels represented the FlingerPfad at the festival.

Music producer Ismail "Isy" Teggour hosted the program, which included bands Music4CE and P.O.K.E., dance groups like Tanzsportgarde Düsseldorf, Tanzgarde of the Gerresheim Citizens' Guard, AbsolutTanzbar, and performances from "The Flingern Roses" on the "small stage". The Judo sports group also performed on the small stage, followed by an after-show party with a DJ.

The organisers, the Bürgerinitiative Flingern, monitored the weather radar due to forecasted thunderstorms, ensuring the safety of the attendees. The proceeds from the festival will support social and cultural projects for children, youth, and elderly care in the neighbourhood.

The FlingerPfad presented itself in front of the stele for station 25, the Christi Hilf cloister at Flurstraße 57. A parrot was present at the festival, but it was not for sale. The mini-street food mile was a new addition to the Flingern Street Festival this year, offering a variety of culinary delights to festival-goers.

Daniel Rübenköönig, chairman of the Bürgerinitiative Flingern, expressed that the event showcases the community spirit of Flingern, bringing together residents and visitors in a celebration of local culture and camaraderie. The Flingern Street Festival is more than just an event; it's a testament to the vibrant and welcoming spirit of the Flingern neighbourhood in Düsseldorf.

Participants at the Flingern Street Festival could find unique items for their home-and-garden lifestyle at the flea market, featuring over 200 private vendors. During lunchtime, festival-goers could enjoy shopping at the mini-street food mile, offering a variety of culinary delights.
