This year, the Spring Fair has something special in store for you! On Sunday, April 6th, it'll be opening exceptionally early at 10 am due to a planned evacuation in the Lokviertel. Citizens evacuating their homes will enjoy discounted offers at participating businesses until 2 pm. "In this unusual situation, we aim to provide a positive and distraction-filled experience," says Alexander Illenseer, managing director of Marketing Osnabrück GmbH.
Strap in for adrenaline-pumping roller coasters like the Crazy Mine, a spinning sensation with rotating gondolas, tight curves, and a mind-bending mine design. Fans of the eerie will love the Fantasy Drive, featuring animated figures, special effects, and atmospheric scenery. For a nostalgic charm and some floating fun, don't miss Airgate. If you're seeking more intense thrills, swing by the Afterburner Project 1 and Surf Ride Fireball, popular favorites among adventures who crave a challenge.
Little ones can join in the fun too, with seven attractions designed specially for them. Plus, catch the classics like duck fishing, goal shooting, and trampoline jumping! On Family Day, April 9th, you'll find reduced prices. Hungry fairgoers can indulge their taste buds with an array of treats - from classic langos, burgers, and pasta dishes to Asian fare, sweet delights like Baumstriezel, churros, waffles, and slush ice, and a new addition: Oriental food stand specialties from the Near East.
"The Spring Fair is not just a traditional event for showmen but also a means to boost urban vibrancy," says Bernhard Kracke Jr., chairman of the Schaustellerverband Weser-Ems e.V. With over 120 businesses participating, expect crowds, shop local opportunities, and increased foot traffic for shops in the surrounding areas.
The Spring Fair's official opening will take place on Friday, April 4th, at 3 pm, with free access to all attractions for the first half hour. After dark on both Fridays (4th and 11th April), a breathtaking fireworks display will illuminate the event grounds. The Day of the Little Heroes, April 10th, offers a closed fairground tour for children who face unique challenges in their daily lives. Invites are extended to groups from children's and youth welfare facilities.
The fair hours are as follows: Monday to Thursday from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Saturday from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and Sunday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The special opening on Sunday, April 6th, kicks off at 10:00 AM. Access to the grounds remains unimpeded during the evacuation, and both directions of Bohmter Straße and the access via Bremer Straße will be open to traffic. A free parking area is conveniently located for visitors, clearly marked (access via Schlachthofstraße).
