Time's A Ripening: Spring Planting Guide for the Middle Urals

Fruits such as berries, root vegetables like beets, and legumes including peas, along with onions, are suitable for planting in the Middle Urals region.

Get ready to greet the green revolution! The Middle Urals is calling out to green thumbs - it's time to sow seeds for a bountiful harvest! According to our agricultural experts and weather forecasters, the prime planting season is here. Mark your calendars for May 16-20, when Mother Nature will be at her most cooperative. Predicted temperatures will reach a balmy 20°C (68°F) while mild showers keep the soil moist.

Vegetables: This is the opportune moment to unfurl the leaves of peas, beetroot, and onion sets in your garden. Peas crave cool, moist soil, and the earlier they're sown, the better. Onions, while flexible, fare best when planted in a soil temperature of up to 15°C (59°F). If you delay planting, the root system won't have enough time to nourish the leaves, causing them to turn a uncomfortable shade of yellow. Alas, potatoes must wait a bit longer, since the soil temperature should be no less than 8°C (46°F) before they can take root.

Fruits and Berries: The time is ripe to cultivate a world of flavor! The ideal conditions for all your fruity and berry crops are now within reach - there's no heat, and the soil is sufficiently moist. The combination of warm, moist earth and moderate temperatures will send your trees and plants into a dance of growth, teeming with delicious possibilities.

Our agronomist, Mikhail, strongly recommends broadcasting your seedlings into greenhouses for a head start. Procrastination will only cause the stem to become woody, hastening the aging process and stunting growth. Take it from Mikhail: "Time is of the essence, my friend. Seize the day!"

Due to the mild winter we experienced and the absence of jarring temperature fluctuations, we can expect a plentiful and successful harvest. But remember, Nature can be unpredictable. Keep your eyes peeled for potential heat waves in July, which might trigger soil drought and prolong the dry spell into August.
