Greek Cultural Day in Kuwait Celebrates Heritage, Health, and Human Connection

Greek Cultural Day, a celebration of Greek heritage and traditions, took place on October 5, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuwait. Hosted by the International Women's Group (IWG) and the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic, the event attracted a diverse crowd eager to explore Greece's rich culture, healthy living practices, and human connections.

The day began with welcoming remarks from His Excellency H. E. Ioannis Plotas, the Greek Ambassador to Kuwait. He acknowledged the contributions of organisers and speakers, setting the tone for a day filled with cultural exchange and camaraderie.

Ms. Eleni Dimitriadou, a Greek psychotherapist, shared insights on balanced living. She presented a retreat experience video, offering attendees a glimpse into Greece's mindfulness and wellness culture. The event's theme, 'Greece - Healthy Nutrition, Mindful Living, and the Power of Human Connection', was reflected in Dimitriadou's engaging presentation.

Greek Cultural Day showcased traditional Grecian outfits and dances, with lively performances that captivated the audience. Authentic Greek cuisine was served, allowing guests to savour the flavours of Greece while learning about its culinary heritage.

Mrs. Marika Kochlamazashvili, IWG President, expressed gratitude to attendees and organisers in her opening remarks. She highlighted the importance of events like these in fostering cultural understanding and strengthening bonds between Greece and Kuwait.

The event concluded on a high note, with Greek music and traditional dances like the Island, Zebekiko, and Zorba filling the air. Ambassador Plotas reflected on the strong cultural ties between Greece and Kuwait, noting shared history, traditions, music, food, and dance. Greek Cultural Day exemplified the power of cultural exchange, leaving attendees with a deeper appreciation for Greek culture and a strengthened connection with their Kuwaiti counterparts.
