High-demand holiday decorations: Christmas wreath creators struggling to keep up with rapid sales

In the picturesque town of Sherborne, Dorset, Ellie Taylor's Occasions Florist is gearing up for the busiest time of the year. With Christmas just around the corner, the shop transforms into an Aladdin's cave of foraged delights, six weeks before the festivities begin.

Ellie Taylor, the florist behind Occasions Florist, has a unique approach to wreath-making. She uses a circular wire frame, moss, and spruce as a base, gathering elements from her mother's smallholding in Somerset or the hedgerows surrounding her home. Each wreath is bespoke, catering to the individual requirements of her clients, whether they prefer a traditional red theme or a more rustic, russet-brown look.

Ellie began her working life in childcare but found her passion in floristry ten years ago. After seeing a Facebook advertisement, she purchased a floristry business in the abbey town and has been creating beautiful arrangements ever since.

The wreaths are getting bigger each year and look good on large front doors of period properties. Ellie goes beating with Ed, who works golden retrievers, and her spaniels Bella and Tia, to gather materials for her wreaths.

Meanwhile, in the world of equestrian journalism, Paula Minchin is making a name for herself. After starting her career as a crime reporter on The Sidmouth Herald in Devon, Paula has worked for Horse & Hound for the past ten years. She has held positions as Pony Club & Young Rider Editor, Racing Editor, and is now the Managing & Features Editor of the platform.

Over the years, Paula has overseen two special issues guest-edited by His Majesty The King. She lives in Somerset with her two working Labradors, Nimrod and Rocky.

Ellie Taylor, the florist, extends her creations beyond floral arrangements to fashion and beauty, using natural materials from her mother's smallholding in Somerset for her handmade wreaths. In harmony with her home's surroundings, she also decorates her living space, showcasing a distinct blend of home-and-garden style.
