The Hoeschpark-Büdchen, once a bustling bowling alley and discotheque, has undergone a transformation as part of the renovation project of Hoesch Park. The renovation, which includes the addition of paved paths in the forest and multifunctional sports halls, has been completed, but the basement of the building, originally a 1951-inaugurated sports clubhouse, is currently unusable due to moisture.

The cause of the dampness remains unclear, with rumors suggesting a missed water pump reinstallation and the city attributing it to rising groundwater levels following ThyssenKrupp no longer being obligated to retain water on the premises.

Despite this setback, the Hoeschpark-Büdchen continues to serve as a popular gathering spot for neighbors, residents, and students of the Canisius-Campus. The restaurant, which extends its opening hours to serve food and drinks from noon to late afternoon, 7 days a week, is a familiar face in the community.

The building also houses office rooms on the upper floor, exclusively for use by associations, and a multi-purpose room that is managed by the Büdchen staff and maintained on a booking list for the city.

Some individuals have personal connections to the Hoeschpark and the guest house, having celebrated birthdays or stopped by during walks. The staff includes some individuals who are returning to work after a long time.

The city attributes the renovation of Hoesch Park as an investment in the North End, but politicians express concerns about recreational athletes. Funding for the Büdchen project, begun in summer 2024, may continue for the next four years.

The renovation of Hoesch Park is expected to cost eight million euros, an increase from earlier estimates. Caritas provides catering upon request for events held in the guest house hall.

For those seeking precise and up-to-date information on the Hoeschpark-Büdchen's history, employment opportunities, and community functions, it's recommended to check local Dortmund community resources, the official website or social media channels of Hoeschpark-Büdchen, or contact local neighborhood organizations directly.
