Hooked on Polo: Avid Enthusiast Scores Four Goals in Two Days at El Venado Polo School

An avid polo enthusiast recently spent an unforgettable time at El Venado Polo School in Argentina, scoring four goals in just two days and becoming utterly hooked on the sport. The school, nestled on 2,500 acres outside Buenos Aires, offers an authentic Argentinian experience with delicious homemade food, Gauchos, and expert polo instruction.

El Venado, run by Santiago Taledo for over 15 years, is owned and hosted by Federico Cendoya, a 5-goal professional with three decades of experience. The author felt instantly at home, welcomed by Federico and his wife Ines. Days began with helping Gauchos bring in horses and herd cows, providing a genuine insight into Argentinian rural life.

Argentina's love for polo is evident in the meticulous care given to its ponies, considered national treasures. The author learned the basics of polo here - holding reins in the left hand and swinging a mallet with the right to hit the ball. The author's skill improved rapidly, culminating in scoring four goals over two days. The experience was so enjoyable that the author even considered returning to Argentina for polo pony shopping.

El Venado Polo School offers more than just polo lessons; it immerses visitors in Argentinian culture and tradition. With expert instruction from Federico Cendoya and a warm welcome from the owners, it's no surprise that the author became hooked on polo and left with unforgettable memories.
