International Foto Biennale's resurrection in Ballarat gains backing from RACV

In the heart of Victoria, Australia, the Ballarat International Foto Biennale returns for its 2025 edition, promising an eight-week celebration of photography and art. This year's theme, Lifeforce, explores human energy through portraiture and documentary photography, attracting visitors from across Victoria and beyond.

RACV Goldfields Resort is set to be a cultural hub during the festival, offering a special two-night accommodation package from $459*. The package includes tickets to the Biennale, a two-course dinner, buffet breakfasts, a Ballarat International Foto Biennale merchandise pack, and access to a series of immersive events and exhibitions.

At the resort, visitors can expect photography masterclasses and hands-on workshops, designed for both seasoned photographers and beginners. These include cyanotype and Polaroid transfer printing sessions. Guided tours of the exhibitions will also be available, providing deeper engagement with the artworks.

Notable exhibitions at RACV Goldfields Resort feature artists such as Leila Jeffreys, Maria Fernanda Cardoso, Troy Emmery, and Ballarat-based Kathy Muhlhan. Their displays can be found in the Ironbark Foyer at the resort.

RACV Head of Visual Arts, Mardi Nowak, is proud to help deliver an event that showcases contemporary photographic work. She stated that the Ballarat International Foto Biennale has cemented its place as a major cultural event on the national calendar.

In addition to the activities at RACV Goldfields Resort, the festival will take place across more than 100 venues, featuring over 360 artists. Other venues include RACV City Club in Melbourne and RACV Inverloch Resort.

The festival's highlights include the headline exhibits of Campbell Addy's work on Nii Journal and an exclusive exhibition by Hiromi Tango, both of which will be featured at RACV Goldfields Resort.

On Sunday, 24 August, RACV Goldfields Resort will host the Art of Lunch, where guests can hear from key artists and enjoy a three-course meal. Ticketing information is available through the RACV website.
