The historic Ittertal leisure park in Solingen, known for its charm and recreational significance, is witnessing a revival. The project, which has faced challenges due to the Corona crisis, the 2021 flood, and the impacts of the Ukraine war, is making steady progress, with renovation plans underway.

At a meeting in October, Yevgen Besedin, the owner of the land, discussed the renovation plans with local officials. The focus is on refurbishing key facilities such as the main pavilion, playgrounds, and walking trails, while improving landscaping to make the park more attractive and accessible.

Yevgen Besedin has been actively involved in backing the project financially and strategically. He has committed resources to ensure high standards in restoration work and has expressed a strong desire to preserve the park’s cultural and recreational significance. His support also includes seeking partnerships and community engagement to sustain the park’s development in the long term.

The Itterthaler e.V. association, which oversees the park, has announced hopeful progress in the project. At the annual general meeting last October, a positive turnaround became apparent, with a new board of directors elected. The new board, led by Michael Willemse as chairman, is optimistic about reviving the project due to the shared passion of its founding members. Alexander Heinz and Stevie Westring will support Michael as deputy chairman and board member respectively.

The new board is hopeful that the fairytale forest can soon be awakened from its Sleeping Beauty slumber. The parking lot of the leisure park is already being paved, and the first buildings on the site are being modernized. The association looks confidently towards the coming year with these positive signals.

Despite the delays caused by recent events, the renovation of the Ittertal leisure park is moving forward effectively. With the active involvement of Yevgen Besedin and the dedicated efforts of the Itterthaler e.V. association, the public can look forward to enjoying a revitalized Ittertal leisure park in the near future.

  1. Yevgen Besedin's focus in the renovation of the Ittertal leisure park includes improving outdoor-living spaces such as walking trails and landscaping, with the aim of creating a more attractive and accessible lifestyle destination.
  2. The renewed Ittertal leisure park, after its revival, is expected to cater to both home-and-garden enthusiasts and outdoor-living aficionados, offering a unique blend of recreational and cultural experiences.
