MuseumMobil Comes to Kleve: A Week of History and Engagement
The House of History of North Rhine-Westphalia (Haus der Geschichte NRW) is bringing its mobile museum tour, MuseumMobil, to the town of Kleve from August 8th to 17th, 2025. This outreach initiative, which travels through all 53 districts and independent cities of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), aims to collect and showcase local NRW history from the community's perspective.
During its stay in Kleve, MuseumMobil offers a diverse program for visitors of all ages. Highlights include conversations, a 'collecting Saturday', and special offers for groups and children. For those interested, guided visits for groups of up to 10 people can be arranged after registration, featuring a brief introduction followed by a visit to the interactive exhibition.
The MuseumMobil container will be situated at Koekkoekplatz in Kleve. Visitors are invited to contribute their stories about North Rhine-Westphalia to the collection of the new house of North Rhine-Westphalian history.
The event kicks off on August 7th, 2025, with a humorous examination of similarities and differences between Germans and Dutch people by Dutch comedian Patrick Nederkoorn at 6:00 PM.
All offers within the MuseumMobil event in Kleve are completely free. The event will take place at B.C. Koekkoek-Haus, Koekkoekplatz 14, 47533 Kleve, and is accessible for wheelchair or rollator users with a ramp for access. Exhibition texts are available in German everyday language, easy-to-read language, and English via touchscreens on site.
For visually impaired visitors, there is the option to access exhibition information via a tablet with screen reader function.
On August 16, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, 'Collecting Saturday Kleve' will take place at the tourist information office in Kleve Town Hall, Minoritenplatz 2. During this event, visitors can bring historically significant objects, documents, or photos from their region to become a part of the collection of the future House of History of North Rhine-Westphalia.
