Linking Individuals in Sonnenhof, Sonnenberg, and Wacholder through "ZWAR network"
The city of Pforzheim has recently introduced a new initiative, the ZWAR Network (Zwischen Arbeit und Ruhestand), aimed at promoting social engagement and active aging among its older residents.
The ZWAR Network, which translates to "Between Work and Retirement," is a grassroots movement that has been successful in various parts of Germany for many decades. It focuses on providing opportunities for social interaction, mutual aid, and combating isolation among middle-aged and older adults.
The establishment and support of the Pforzheim-based ZWAR Network is funded by the "Quartiersimpulse" program, a part of the state strategy "Quartier 2030 - Together. Shape." managed by the Alliance for Participation and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Integration. The funding for this program comes from state funds approved by the Baden-Württemberg Landtag.
The ZWAR Network is based on self-organization and does not rely on a club structure. Frank Fillbrunn, the Social Mayor of Pforzheim, emphasizes this point, stating that the Network encourages its members to take an active role in planning and organizing activities.
Activities planned for the ZWAR Network in Pforzheim include English meetups, bowling, cycling, Nordic walking, and hiking groups, with specific dates provided. Base group meetings are held every 14 days, starting at 7 p.m., and the meeting point is the youth club Soho 5, located at Paul-Löbe-Straße 5. Base group meetings are open-ended and do not require registration.
Other potential activities, such as IT support, knitting, and photography, are being stored in a "theme bank" for future consideration.
The city of Pforzheim, in cooperation with the Bürgerverein Sonnenhof e.V. and the youth work of the SJR operating company, is involved in the establishment of the ZWAR Network. The project is also supported by ZWAR e.V., an association that supports municipalities in establishing networks.
For more information about the ZWAR Network in Pforzheim, questions can be directed to ZWAR group leader Julia Bahlke via phone at 01512 5093322 or email at [email protected].
While general information about the ZWAR Network can be found online, specific details about the Pforzheim-based Network, such as its history, activities, and contact information, are not readily available on the web. To find more detailed information, you may need to consult local community centers, municipal social services, or regional senior networks. These often host or coordinate ZWAR groups. You may also check regional social platforms or the official ZWAR umbrella organization website, if available.
