Maserati's Grand Tourer GranCabrio: A Stylish and Comfortable Drive

The Maserati GranCabrio, launched in 2024, has quickly become a leader in its niche, appealing to those seeking a vehicle that can handle daily duties while offering a touch of fun and style. This grand tourer, priced from £131,325, is designed to cover long distances in comfort and style, a reputation Maserati has earned over the years.

The GranCabrio, with its roof up, offers a quiet, comfortable, and refined ride on the motorway, especially in 'Comfort' mode. The GranCabrio is fun and rewarding to drive on twisty roads, with 'Sport' or 'Corsa' driving modes adding an extra thrill.

The design of the GranCabrio is a key focus for Maserati. Busse explains that the current design is very sculptural. The car's cabin is well-made, well-thought-out, and has enough room to seat four adults comfortably. The current version of the Maserati GranCabrio was designed by the Italian design studio Pininfarina.

Maserati's design philosophy has evolved over the decades, with each decade bringing a different aesthetic. The company's association with the Grand Tourer dates back to its first road car, the Pininfarina-designed Maserati A6 1500, in 1947.

The GranCabrio is available in three variants: the standard model, the Trofeo, and the Folgore. The standard GranCabrio, with a less-powerful V6, starts at £131,325, while the Trofeo is priced at £156,325 and the Folgore at £185,610. The Trofeo and Folgore have more power than the standard model, with 542bhp and 751bhp respectively.

The GranCabrio, in Trofeo spec, is a formidable force on the road, offering a blend of pace, performance, comfort, and an impressive soundtrack. However, potential competitors such as the Aston Martin DB12 and forthcoming Vantage Volante could potentially match the GranCabrio, but the former is more expensive and the latter only equipped with two seats.

The Ferrari Roma Spider, while faster and boasting a finer interior fit and finish, is more awkward looking and significantly more expensive than the GranCabrio. The GranCabrio is initially available as a petrol V6 (Trofeo) and a fully-electric, tri-motor battery-powered convertible (Folgore).
