Magdeburg's Salbke District Gains 'Minecraft'-Themed Playground
A new math playground is taking shape in Magdeburg's Salbke district. The 'Blocks' themed playground, inspired by Minecraft, will span around 1,500 m2 at Gröninger Straße. It's part of efforts to promote social cohesion and is expected to cost approximately €498,000.
Construction has begun, with separate play areas planned for children aged 6 to 12 and younger children up to the age of 5. The playground will feature a large sand play area, a cube tower structure, climbing elements, and a 'robot cube' as highlights. It will also include seating, resting options, bicycle parking, and greening with high-stem trees and shrubs.
The project was planned through a multi-stage participation process involving local schoolchildren. It replaces an earlier playground that was dismantled during infrastructure measures around the tram loop.
The new math playground is set to provide a fun and engaging space for children in the Salbke district. Its construction is expected to be completed soon, with no further details on the architect or planner available at this time.
