Medieval times return to Leuchtenberg: a revival in the town's history.
The Leuchtenberg Castle Support Association is gearing up for a grand celebration as they mark their 20th anniversary with an event called "The Lively Castle." This medieval-themed extravaganza is set to take place on the 26th and 27th of August, promising a weekend filled with entertainment, food, and historical attractions.
One of the highlights of the event will be the performances by the group "Cantus-Ferrum," who will bring a touch of the Middle Ages to life with their medieval attractions.
The event, which runs from 10 am to 6 pm, will also feature a fashion show at 4:30 pm, shooting demonstrations at 2 pm, and drill demonstrations at 3 pm. The castle will be open for visits throughout the day, allowing attendees to explore its historic halls and grounds.
In addition to the entertainment, food and drinks will be available for purchase, making for a truly immersive medieval experience.
The puppet theater in Wutschdorf bei Freudenberg, a rare form of cultural expression, is also expected to make an appearance at the event.
Admission for adults is €3, and for children aged 6 and up, it's €1.50.
For those interested in attending, it's recommended to check the official website or social media channels of Leuchtenberg Castle or their local tourism office for more detailed event information and attraction highlights.
As the event draws near, we can expect a record-breaking turnout, with numerous visitors and a record 65 historic fire trucks expected to be in attendance.
In other news, the annual summer festival in Frohnberg and the pilgrimage to the Stadlerner church on August 15 are also expected to draw many Marian devotees. The festival, which saw impressive sermons from Waldsassen's fire chief Michael Fortelny and Hahnbach's parish priest Birner, drew numerous visitors this year.
Unfortunately, there have been some unfortunate incidents in the region, with a three-year-old reported missing from grandparents in Bayern, and a motorcyclist dying in an accident. Our thoughts are with the families affected.
