Millions of stars illuminate Koblenz's night sky

On the chilly evening of November 16th, the heart of Koblenz will warm as candle illuminations light up public squares, including Josef-Görres-Platz. This annual event, now in its seventeenth edition, is part of the nationwide solidarity action "A Million Stars," organised by the Caritas Association of Koblenz.

The square will be bathed in a special light, as depicted in photos 1-2 by Marco Wagner. The Caritas Director, Victoria Müller-Ensel, expresses hope for a positive response and willingness to donate from the community.

Mayor Ulrike Mohrs has taken on the patronage for this year's edition. The solidarity action at Josef-Görres-Platz will feature an emotional music program, with artists such as Anna Theisen, Daniel Ferber, and Lukas Otte performing. Their contributions add to the event's atmosphere, emphasising solidarity through artistic expression.

The candle lighting at Josef-Görres-Platz begins at 4 pm. Each candle symbolises a person in a difficult life situation. Visitors are invited to light a candle for a voluntary donation. The collected donations will benefit the homeless aid of the Caritas Association of Koblenz, as well as a support project of Caritas international for young people with disabilities in Colombia.

For those unable to attend the event, online donations can be made at [www.caritas-koblenz.de/ems], with a corresponding donation receipt provided. It's worth noting that all artists are volunteering for the good cause.

The "A Million Stars" solidarity action takes place in many German cities and communities on November 16th. This event aims to raise awareness and support for social causes through communal gatherings and culturally enriching activities such as live music. For complete and precise information, it is recommended to consult the official event announcements or local organizing committee outlets.

  1. The event's atmosphere, with its solidarity-themed music program and candle lighting, encourages a sense of community that extends beyond the cold November evening, fostering connections akin to outdoor-living environments, creating an unique other lifestyle experience.
  2. As the collected donations from the event will provide assistance to both the homeless in Koblenz and young people with disabilities in Colombia, this annual gesture of solidarity serves as a reminder that home-and-garden aren't limits to our empathy and support for those in need, reaching far beyond our immediate surroundings.
