Neukirchen-Vluyn Boosts Kindergarten Literacy with Library Initiative

The city of Neukirchen-Vluyn recently celebrated a boost in literacy among its youngest residents. The local library, with the help of several organisations, brought the joy of reading to kindergartens across the district.

The initiative kicked off with Jürgen Meier, managing director of the Förderverein, introducing the city library and its benefits to eager young minds. Ute Michalski, head of Kita Gänseblümchen, reported that the children were engaged and excited by the books they discovered.

Dirk Tenberg, a dedicated volunteer, read thrilling animal stories to children in the five kindergartens of the DRK State Association Niederrhein. The DRK district association Niederrhein expressed gratitude to the Bürgerstiftung and the Förderverein for their commitment in enriching the educational work in the kindergartens.

The Bürgerstiftung Neukirchen-Vluyn generously gifted book packages to these five kindergartens. Chairman Kurt Best personally presented these packages, stressing the importance of books in opening new worlds and sparking imagination.

A special reading hour was held in all kindergartens, made possible by the Förderverein of the city library. This collaborative effort has not only expanded the literary horizons of Neukirchen-Vluyn's kindergarten children but also fostered a love for reading among them.
