New 'Bikepark Nordhorn' Opens, Backed by EU Funds and Local Youth
The 'Bikepark Nordhorn', a new mountain bike and BMX facility, opened today. Costing around 160,000 euros, it received a 60,000 euro grant from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
The park, located next to the 'Rodelberg' in the Gewerbe- und Industriepark GIP, offers three zones: 'Pumptrack', 'Table Line', and 'Dirt Line', catering to different skill levels. It was initiated by local young BMX riders and funded by the LEADER program with European Union funds. The youth were actively involved in its development, planning, and construction. Mayor Thomas Berling praised their ideas and collaboration. A public sports event is planned to inaugurate the facility, featuring BMX professionals showcasing their skills.
The 'Bikepark Nordhorn' is now open to the public, exclusively for mountain bikes and BMX bicycles, with safety and damage prevention rules in place. Its opening marks a significant achievement for the young riders who championed the project and the local community that supported it.
