New management takes over at the Edeka store.
Christian Ott is set to take over the reins of the EDEKA market at Hauptstraße 69a in Wenden, marking his first step into self-employment as an independent retailer[1]. The transition will officially begin on September 1, 2025.
The Goerge family, who have led the full-service store for 25 years, are handing over the market to Ott for personal reasons. Ott brings with him 12 years of professional experience with Edeka Minden-Hannover, having previously managed the nearby 'nah & gut Wenden' market[1].
Ott's plans for the market focus on modernization, maintaining excellent customer service, evolving the product range, and supporting staff continuity[1]. Starting early 2026, he intends to implement modernization measures, including adjustments and expansions to the range, as well as a modernized interior[1]. Service counters will continue to exist in the modernized market.
Ott promises that customers can continue to expect friendly, personal service and good quality. He also expressed his intention to use his new market to support local social institutions[1].
Regarding employment, all 18 current employees, including an apprentice, will be retained or remain employed within the EDEKA Görge family network, ensuring employment stability[1]. Ott views this as a significant career step and looks forward to leading the team and reliably securing local grocery supply in Wenden[1].
The Edeka Minden-Hannover Foundation reported this change in a press release[2]. Ott's new market will receive extensive support from his Edeka cooperative, including financial services, business consulting, and training offers[1].
