Outdoor Voices' founder, Ty Haney, returns with a fresh range of products
Outdoor Voices, the popular activewear brand known for encouraging fitness with joy and ease, is making a comeback after a period of financial struggles. The brand, which shuttered its store footprint last year, has been acquired by Consortium Brand Partners in 2023, rescuing it from bankruptcy and enabling its relaunch.
Founder, owner, and partner Tyler Haney, who was ousted as CEO in 2020, has returned to Outdoor Voices to oversee product, brand, creative, and community engagement. Haney spent the past nine months reimagining a collection that honors the brand's original ethos while aiming to engage new, younger consumers like Gen Z with more fashion-forward activewear.
The new collection is described as "fashion-y" and having a perspective, while still taking cues from the original brand. The brand dismantled its previous social media presence and website, relaunching with a fresh "Doing new things" message and a new collection debuting on August 4-5, 2025.
Ashley Merrill, who took over as chairwoman of Outdoor Voices in 2020 with a mission to make it more profitable, will continue to support Haney in her role. The brand aims to expand into new categories, enter wholesale and specialty stores, and reaffirm its core ethos in the new collection.
In a voiceover video detailing the history of Outdoor Voices, Haney states, "We're back, baby." She calls herself "a baby girl" straight out of college when she founded the brand. The video features a video reintroducing Haney and a clean, modern website that currently features a sign-up page to unlock first access to the launch.
Outdoor Voices' stores remained shuttered after the acquisition, with plans to open locations in 2025. The brand's new collection is expected to debut on Aug. 4 for Haney's Try Your Best community and Aug. 5 for everyone else. Reports circulated that the brand was looking to sell itself in 2022, but with Haney back at the helm, Outdoor Voices is poised for a fresh start under its revitalized leadership and new ownership.
