Park University Art Showcase to Highlight RE: Generation Local Art Collective
The upcoming exhibit, "RE: Generation," promises to be a captivating display of art, showcasing the works of a collective of Kansas City-area artists. The exhibit will run from February 18, 2025, to April 26, 2025, at the Campanella Gallery, located within Norrington Center on Park's Parkville Campus.
RE: Generation is a collective of artists who work in a wide range of media, content, styles, and techniques. The group, which is a loose-knit collective of women artists who share common history, generational, and gender experiences, nourishes a collegial spirit that supports individual studio practices through cross-fertilization and dialogue.
The exhibit is dedicated in memory of Sharon Hunter-Putsch, who founded RE: Generation in 2014 and passed away in October 2024. The artists' works in this exhibit are influenced by the juncture in their individual lives and the unparalleled moment in the nation's and planet's story, as stated in the group's artist statement.
The themes of the exhibit include family, environment, and culture. The artists participating in this exhibit are Sharon Hunter-Putsch, Donna Bachmann, Janet Kuemmerlein, Jane Pronko, Lynn Richardson, Catherine Vesce, Diana Werts, Megan Wyeth, and Carol Zastoupil.
The reception for the artists will take place on April 4, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Campanella Gallery. Admission to the exhibit and the gallery is free and open to the public.
The gallery is open Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 4 to 9 p.m., except during Park's Spring Break week (March 8-16, 2025) when it is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on weekends.
