Prepared Youth Facility Opens in Ober-Roden: Embracing Tomorrow's Generation
The youth of Rodermark are in for an exciting change as the new Jugendzentrum, or Juz, in Ober-Roden is now taking form. This former Motzenbruch kindergarten is being transformed into a vibrant hub for young people, offering a space for recreation, social interaction, and potential workshops tailored to their interests.
The construction of the Juz began in September 2024 and has progressed according to plan. The budget for the project, estimated at around 230,000 euros, has been adhered to. The municipal youth department has already moved into the building, with regular operation set to commence in the week starting January 27, 2025.
Mayor Jörg Rotter and First City Councilor Andrea Schülner are satisfied with the Juz project, praising it as a step in the right direction. They acknowledge that they recognised the signs of the times and set the course anew for the Juz project.
The Juz offers numerous possibilities on over 500 square meters, including cosy seating areas, a modern counter and kitchen area, group rooms for movement, creative offers, and media work. Old favourites like table football and billiards are also part of the package, along with a large outdoor area surrounding the building from the 1970s.
The Juz aims to bring fresh impulses to youth work in Rodermark. It is believed that this new centre will provide impetus for youth activities in the region. Initial challenges in finding a location for the Juz have been overcome, with the new central location being between the town centre and Breidert.
Open meetings for different age groups are planned. Further information on the offers will be published via the social media channels of Jugend Rödermark. A special highlight will follow on February 15: a day of the open door invites everyone interested to visit and get to know the new youth centre from 3 pm to 8 pm.
The cooperation between Rodermark (KBR) and project coordinator Valentine Böhmer-Velten was efficient. Internal administration can be enjoyable with good cooperation, according to Geisz.
