Presentation by Green Heart Neuss Association: "Design your home, secure your future, and create sustainable new living spaces"
In August 2022, the participatory association "Green Heart Neuss" was established with a vision to involve and integrate everyone in the urban development project. The association aims to present Neuss as the host of the 2026 North Rhine-Westphalia state garden show to the region.
The active community around this event of superlatives is growing, with identification with home, city, and future playing a crucial role. The motto "We for a new piece of home" continues to guide the urban development project.
The association has organized a large citizen's event in the Wetthalle and is committed to numerous actions, events, and citizen's gatherings. Cooperations and theme groups have been established as a link between the citizen's park, the state garden show, and various actors such as tradition, sports, history, culture, and economy.
The new citizen's park, spanning over 38 hectares, is being created on the site of the former racetrack. The focus is on shaping home, future, and the new living space sustainably.
For the 2026 North Rhine-Westphalia Landesgartenschau in Neuss, the development plan would likely include the design and construction of themed gardens and green spaces showcasing horticulture and sustainability, revitalization of urban areas and waterways to improve ecological and recreational value, creation of event facilities, walking and cycling paths, and public art installations.
Integration of cultural and educational programs to engage visitors and residents, collaboration among local government, planners, landscape architects, and community groups, and numerous opportunities for information, participation, and involvement will be offered in 2024.
