Win a Stunning Highland Retreat: The Carie Estate

The Carie Estate, a historic Highland retreat located near Struan on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, is currently being raffled off by Omaze, a fundraising platform. With an estimated value of £4 million, this unique opportunity presents a chance for supporters to own a private Scottish estate with rich history and extensive amenities.

The Carie Estate is steeped in history, having been the ancient seat of Clan Robertson of Struan, who supported Bonnie Prince Charlie against the English. The estate's connection to Clan Robertson ties it culturally and historically to the clan's ancestral lands in the Highlands.

The estate spans over 58 acres and includes the newly restored Carie House, which stands on a promontory overlooking its own lawns and woodlands, offering stunning views and absolute privacy. The original Carie House was destroyed by fire in the early 20th century, but the present owners' predecessors rebuilt the property on the site by joining together the remaining cottages and the drawing room of the original property, as well as building a pentagonal summerhouse.

Carie House provides accommodation over two floors with main reception rooms on the ground floor. The present owners also added the bow front and the library wing to the main house, creating what is now Carie House. Morag's Cottage, located nearby, provides sitting room, dining room, fitted kitchen with loch views, two double bedrooms, and an upper galleried sitting room.

The two cottages (Morag's Cottage and rented cottages) have been rented out successfully and bring in an average income of £40,000 a year, rated 5* by Visit Scotland. The steadings, which are stone-built under a slate roof and form an L-shape with a walled garden in the center, include a workshop, a billiard room, and a separate hay barn.

The Carie Estate offers riparian rights to fish for trout and to launch a boat on Loch Rannoch. Its location on the Isle of Skye places it within the iconic Highlands region, known for dramatic landscapes such as the Trotternish Peninsula, Quiraich, and proximity to other notable clan landmarks and castles, offering guests immersive experiences into Highland life and culture.

Rannoch Station, with a direct sleeper service to London, is 14 miles away, and Perth is 55 miles. The Highland town of Pitlochry is 28 miles. The Factor's House, the western end of the steadings, was previously featured on the open market in 2010.

This summary synthesizes the general known association of the Carie Estate with Clan Robertson and its status as a desirable Highland retreat offered by Omaze. Specific details from Omaze’s raffle promotions would provide the most current amenities and ownership status, but historically the estate is a place of cultural importance to the clan and a sought-after luxury destination in the Scottish Highlands.

Living at the Carie Estate, a raffle prize by Omaze, offers the chance to experience outdoor-living in a historic Highland retreat. The Carie Estate, with its home-and-garden amenities, provides a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in Highland culture and lifestyle.
