Farm visitors can immerse themselves in rural life through Brandenburg's land party offerings - Rural Brandenburg: Agri-tourists encounter farm life experiences

Catch a glimpse of the inner workings of Brandenburg's agricultural scene at the 30th Brandenburg Land Party on June 14 and 15, where local farming businesses invite you for a sneak peek into their daily operations and the production of regional delicacies. With around 130 hosts across about 120 locations, expect 100,000 visitors, as stated by the Ministry of Agriculture.

A staggering 45% of Brandenburg's land is dedicated to agriculture, but many individuals today lack a direct connection to the agricultural industry. "Farming's work and challenges remain largely unknown," highlights Pro Agro.

The Brandenburg Land Party aims to reignite the public's passion for agriculture. Brandenburg, once renowned just for asparagus, now stands at the forefront of sea buckthorn, sunflower, and sweet lupin harvesting in Germany, according to Pro Agro.

The main event launch of the 30th Brandenburg Land Party occurs at the organic farm, Gut Schmerwitz, located in the Naturpark Hoher Fläming. Besides promoting awareness about agriculture, the event will also advocate for the recruitment of skilled workers in the field.

As you stroll through the farmlands, you may gain insights into the history of Brandenburg's grain cultivation on nutrient-poor sandy soils[1]. Grain harvesting is a blend of traditional practices, modern technology, and research-driven techniques[2]. Combines, large machines capable of cutting, threshing, and collecting grain, are common in these modern farms[4]. Don't forget to ask about the importance of soil and water management in optimizing grain yields here[2][1].

Additionally, take a peek at the milking process using milking robots, which have become prevalent in German dairying, including in Brandenburg. These systems allow cows to be milked without human intervention by sensing when a cow is ready to milk, attaching the milking cups, cleaning the teats, and monitoring milk quality and yield[3]. Benefits include increased efficiency, reduced labor costs, and improved animal welfare[3].

In the midst of discovering Brandenburg's agricultural scene at the Brandenburg Land Party, one might also learn about the event's focus on promoting vocational training for skilled workers in the farming industry, thus contributing to the community policy of strengthening the agricultural sector. After exploring the farms, visitors can appreciate the modern conveniences of home-and-garden life, such as milking robots, which integrate themselves seamlessly into the lifestyle of today's agricultural communities.
