Saarlouis' 2025 Urban Development Discourse held at Gutenbergplatz

In the heart of Saarlouis, a day dedicated to urban development promotion unfolded, bringing together local leaders, community members, and key initiatives.

The day began with a symbolic handover of funding by Minister Reinhold Jost for the energy-efficient renovation of the Vogelsang School, part of the Saarland school construction program BAUSETEIN. This initiative is a testament to the minister's goal of maintaining and further developing Saarland's cities and communities as livable and lovable places, ensuring a high quality of life for its people in the long term.

Mayor Carsten Quirin and Minister Reinhold Jost opened a town hall meeting on Gutenberg Square, the focus of the day's events. The redesigned square, a prime example of successful urban development promotion, combines ecological responsibility with functional design, directly benefiting the people in the city.

City Manager Kirsten Cortez led a walkable city map tour, providing insights into ongoing projects. The 'Quarter Management on Tour,' represented by Jessica Fischer and Dr. Viola Kirchner, also shared information about their ongoing projects.

Minister Reinhold Jost highlighted the diverse effects of urban development promotion in Saarland, including measures for local clubs, sustainability, climate, intergenerational meeting points, and flood protection. Urban development promotion, as Mayor Quirin stated, creates spaces for interaction, supports social cohesion, and enables investments in future-proof infrastructure.

The event's focus was on the importance of urban development promotion for urban development and social cohesion. Deputy Mayor Gerald Purucker presented central projects of urban development promotion, with a particular focus on the redesign of Gutenberg Square.

A dialogue with citizens under the motto 'Come and talk' was a significant part of the day, offering opportunities for personal conversations with Mayor Quirin and Deputy Mayor Purucker.

Throughout the day, the minister expressed pride in the achievements of Saarland's municipalities in the context of urban development promotion and was happy to financially support them. The Day of Urban Development Promotion in Saarlouis was a testament to the commitment of local leaders to creating a better, more sustainable future for their communities.
